The global azimsulfuron market size is expected to reach USD 2.50 billion in 2024 and reach USD 3.35 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 6% from 2024 to 2029.
Azimsulfuron is a chemical compound belongs to the family of sulfonylureas. It is a post-emergence herbicide that is an inhibitor of enzyme acetolactate synthase in the broad-leaved and sedge weeds in paddy fields and other crops. Azimsulfuron is highly soluble in water and semi-volatile. It has low mammalian toxicity but has high potential for bioaccumulation.
Azimsulfuron is quite stable in hydrolysis and photolysis. It is mainly used in rice cultivation and has no adverse health effects identified for humans. It has no mutagenic, carcinogenic, or reprotoxic effects on mammals, but it is toxic to some aquatic organisms, especially green algae. It is also harmful to butterflies, earthworms, and birds. In Europe, it is added to the list of authorized active substances, and application from the air is not permitted.
The primary factors driving the growth of the azimsulfuron market are growing awareness for improving agricultural productivity and a rise in health conciseness. Also, increasing population, availability of arable land and expansion of farmlands, product innovations and technology advancements, rise in disposable income, adaptable temperature conditions, and increase in rice demand are secondary factors driving the growth of the market. However, stringent regulations, high toxicity, several environmental health hazards, and high-cost manufacturing equipment are restraining the growth of the market.
